We rented a Ford Fiesta and made our way up North to
Tetouan to meet my bro-in-law Mike. Katie and
Zetta were in the back seat playing, and I was up front pushing the clutch and changing the gears. The "auto-route" was well
maintained and we floated to Tangier at an even 120 km an hour safely. Upon arrival we had to get off the highway and get on a lesser traveled road to get to our destination. Said road was under construction, and by construction I mean it was like taking a Ford Fiesta through an American Gladiator's obstacle course. We were going through the heart of the
Rif mountains, avoiding landslides to the right of us, gigantic
tonka-
esque yellow vehicles on the left, all while passing semi-trucks while avoiding the grand taxis and roadside workers. Traffic cones were rare and it was usually rocks that provided lane changes and mergers. The terrain would go from asphalt, to gravel, to dirt, and then repeat. Finally, a true African driving adventure!
We checked into the three-star mid-range option: Le Hotel Panorama Vista. The rooms were clean, breakfast was included, and it surely lived up to it's name.

It was
Zetta's first bathtub experience. She had the pleasant company of a new pink duck (a gift presented at
Dar El Sada).
Zetta couldn't quite get her barrings straight in the tub and she spent most of the time slipping and splashing. It seems she prefers her pink bucket at home.

I love this picture of Katie!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she likes that duck, it definitely made the bad seem random!
