After test driving many different models of used cars, I am pleased to say we have finally found one to our liking. It is a '96 Honda Accord. What can I say? We are suckers for Hondas.
So Monday I had to go to the Hotel d'ville to process all of the paper work. Our guy, Saaid, went with me, of course, because he is the one who brokered the deal, and also he helps me to do stuff. Hotel d'ville is like city hall, with a BMV thrown in the mix. Saaid greated the tellers behind the glass window and soon we were invited to come in the back with them. We were offered comfy chairs, and we were welcome to smoke cigarettes and even drink a coffee if we were interested. We declined on both. The rest of the locals had to stand on the other side of the glass, equivalent to the BMV minus an organized line. It is more a bunch of people clustered around the window. Saaid later informed me it is good to know someone behind the glass, right after he slipped the man a small tip.
After about 457 documents were exchanged, shuffled, and signed, the car was put into my name. We still have a couple more kinks that mostly involve Saaid doing them for us. Other than that, reader beware! Now that we have our own wheels, the travel tales from the continent will only get better! Soon we will be off to see the monkeys!
